Admission Knocks

Admission Criteria

  • While reviewing applicants, Canadian universities use a holistic approach. An applicant’s potential and academic success are possibly the most important factors to be considered but Canadian universities also value the applicant’s reason to attend the University, Professional experience, extra-curricular activities, and character.
  • To get admission for a four-year bachelor’s degree program, students who had undergone the British Education System are typically expected to hold at least five GCSEs (General Certificate of Secondary Education) at grade C or above in academic subjects and three A levels.
  • The Pre-U qualifications and an IB Diploma are also recognized for admission to four-year universities, including the most competitive universities.
  • Since English is the primary language of communication, all Canadian Universities look for students who have shown their English proficiency skills and have scored the best on the test.
  • Universities may also ask for recommendation letters from teachers, and counselors. These letters can provide insight into the applicant’s character, work ethic, and potential for success in college.
  • Universities also consider an applicant’s extracurricular activities, such as sports, volunteer work, or leadership positions. This demonstrates the applicant’s interests and passions outside of academics

Test Scores

Canadian colleges and Universities require a student to have an English proficiency test score (IELTS, TOEFL, or other equivalent). The required minimum score may vary by institution but is typically between 6.5-7.5 on the IELTS or 90-100 on the TOEFL iBT for the students who are applying for any program. Some universities or courses may require the student to appear for GRE/GMAT as admission criteria.
